Oh yes!! it is TOTALLY addictive. I've been a Blistex addict for a LONG time, lol. It sounds totally weird, but it's 100% true/

the bonus is that my lips are super soft - or so DH tells me

I'm addicted too. I can;t leave hte house wthout it.inf act I am craving a fix right now..but I'm not about to join a 12 step program over it. I never considered it on par with a drug or other addiction

I am completely addicted. Once I was in Nordstrom's without it and I couldn't take it anymore so I went to the closest makeup counter and bought whatever moisterizing lip stuff they had. And I don't like gloss, it goes away too fast. Has to be Chapstick.

Well, I am not so much a lip balm junky...

Whoever is a part of that campaign that makes it sound like the industry is pushing crack should get a life - its not cigaretes, for god's sake - its friggin lip balm! Get over it - they are like - 'The nightmare never ends!!!'

I used to be worse (in fact, sadly, years ago I posted my 'story' on one of those websites - or something similar ) I have gotten better - I used to not be able to go anywhere or fall asleep w/o it. Now, I can sometimes deal. It drives me nuts that DH will have the worst cracked lips, and will run away if I try and make him use some. But maybe he's the smart one - he's seen what it can do to people!

i frequently use my vaseline but i wouldnt go as far as to call it an addiction. am i? i don't drink the designated 8 cups of water daily so my lips do tend to dry up ever so often. when i'm w/o my vaseline i do get very irritated. how i now make sure i have one near by is by having it in my:

car
night stand
makeup tabe
in my wallet
in the handbags i use often and
a few refills in my med cabinet.

hmm.. am i?

It's good to know we are not alone.

I keep one in every room, in my car, in FH's car and room, at my desk and I keep one in my pocket just in case I have to go someplace where there isn't one.

The minute I think I need it, I can't concentrate on anything else until I get my next 'fix.'

I knew there was a reason why I use ChapStick 365 days a year!! And on vacation!!

I have:

2 in my bag (in case I can't find them fast enough )
1 in my drawer at work
1 next to my bed
1 in my coat
1 in DH's coat (I always ask him for his in the car)
And a huge jar of vaseline sitting on top of my coffee table

Currently in my purse...the blue one of course!

not drinking water does not effect your lips- I drink 10 cups a day

but there are MUCH bigger consequences of not drinking enough water

for one- your body retains water- so you are bloated-

I just started drinking water about 2 weeks ago- I feel so much better, I sleep better- I get up easier in the morning

try it and see for your self!

This is actual false. Not drinking water definitely affects your lips. So does drinking alcohol. Maybe you're not drinking enough or are drinking a lot but are drinking alcohol or putting other things in your body that is causing your lips to be chapped.

From a site about chapped lips:

Water your dry cells. Drinking additional fluids in the winter is a natural and easy way to keep your lips from chapping. 'I recommend several ounces of water every few hours,' says Diana Bihova, M.D., clinical assistant professor of dermatology at New York University Medical Center in New York City. 'As you age, the ability of your cells to retain moisture decreases, so your dryness problem may actually increase each winter. Another way to help counter wintertime dry lips is to humidify the air in your home and office.'
