my venue charges 250 base fee for maitre d. . so all the stuff about tipping, is that on top of this? I am having a 100 people . so would I give like 100 more?
I already have 20? gratuity so I know that would go to the staff. .

i guess the base fee is just so the matrid is given something. i guess if he does better you can give him 100 more.

IDK but my venue charged like 500 or 550 for the matre d tip. I think I heard if you really like them you can tip them more. IDK though.
Tips are a big expense that I'm super scared of and still havent calculated yet!

I am having a hard time with the fact that we are spending SO much money for these vendors services, that then we have to tip them n top of that? that seems crazy to me. Anyone else feel that way?

In pricing venues, the gratuity included is for the waitstaff and bartender(s). The maitre'd tip is not included in that price.
Since you venue already charges a base fee for the maitre'd, I would play it by ear the day of. If you like him or her and found them to be very helpful, then feel free to give them more on top of the base. The base is really there to ensure that they get something because oftentimes people don't realize that the maitre'd tip is not included in their price.
