Hi ladies-quick question. Let's say I'm inviting a best friend and his girlfriend and I don't want to write guest. Would his name go first in this case because i'm closer to him? or does the woman's always come first? I just find it weird to put her name first.

so i would put
mr. John Smith and Miss Mary Jones
