Addresses in Excel Question

I am working on my labels for my invites. If I do it in excel...do I put each name and address on the same line or a seperate line each line.

Ultimately, I am going to mail merge them

If you are preparing your list for a calligrapher, you'd be better off speaking to them first to make sure you use a format they can work from.

Some prefer Word over Excel.

Otherwise, I would recommend using the following cells:

Name
Address
Address2 (for apartments, etc.)
City, State, Zip

If you put the zip code in its own cell, Excel sometimes removes the leading zero ... so then you end up with 4 digit zips instead of the correct 5 digits. This happens with states like NJ, Mass, Rhode Island, Connecticut, etc. who's zip code begins with a 0 (like 02881 for example would become 2881).

I used excel and put it in just as address would appear on the envelope..it worked splendidly - we did STD and invites too !!

This can be correctly VERY simply.
1- Click on Format on the top tool bar,
2- then click on Cells.
3- A small new window entitled Format Cells should appear. Under the heading 'Number' you should see a mini-window on the left entitled Category. Click on Special, then in the mini-window on the right entitled Type, click on Zip Code.

You should then have no problem at all with zeros disappearing.
