addressing envelope question help???

So this is probably gonna sound stupid but can someone tell me what the correct way to address the envelopes is??

like for example a married couple would be
Mr & Mrs Smith
or
Mr & Mrs Thomas Smith
(does it have to have the man's 1st name?)

And a single person
would u do
Ms Tina Smith
or
Ms Smith

You can either list them on two lines like:

Mr. John Doe
Ms. Sara Smith

or you can put it with an & in between the names, either on one line or on two.

If you are inviting two adults who happen to live together but are not a couple (either roomates or an adult child of another invitee), you send them a separate invitation.

For people whose guests names I did not know, I just put their name alone on the front of the invitation and put the & guest on the inner envelope. A few people I just knew their guests first names so I wrote: 'Ms. Sara Smith & Adam'

I know it's not perfect, but I thought it came out kinda sweet.

The man's name is first UNLESS the woman has a professional title:

Doctor Jane Doe and Mr. Jim Doe

Re: addressing envelope question help???

I think whether or not the man's name goes first (or at all) is a personal issue. I don't believe that a man's name gets to take precedence over the woman's, so I don't think I'll be doing Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Smith. I think I'll just be doing Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

What if you have two people who are engaged and you want to use both their names, but they both have really long last names. Do you write:

Ms. Kristin Doadeera and Mr. Alan Femaledeer

or

Ms. Kristin Doadeera
and Mr. Alan Femaledeer

or

Ms. K. Doadeera and Mr. A. Femaledeer

or

Ms. Kristin Doadeera
Mr. Alan Femaledeer

HELP!!
