Re: Addressing Envelopes

You could use either 'Miss' or 'Ms.' for a single woman.

We used 'Ms.' for adult single women and 'Miss' for girls.

Either:

Ms. Jane Doe and Guest

OR

Miss Jane Doe and Guest

'Miss' is not followed by a period.

Re: Addressing Envelopes

Just to clarify my earlier post, when I said DH and I used 'Ms.' for adult single women, I meant age 18+. Minors (17 and under) got 'Miss.'

Re: Addressing Envelopes

this is what I did:

for married couples:
Mr. & Mrs. John Doe (outer)
Mr. & Mrs. Doe (inner)

couples that are dating:
Mr. John Doe and
Miss Jane Smith
Inner: Mr. Doe and Miss Smith

single:
Mr. John Doe (outer)
Mr. John Doe and Guest (inner)

families:
Mr. & Mrs. John Doe (outer)
Mr. & Mrs. Doe and family (inner...or, I listed the children's names below the Mr. & Mrs.)

Not that I'm the etiquette master....how I did it could be wrong..... but I made myself a little nutty doing the addresses, so I hope it helps!!

Re: Addressing Envelopes

Just saw this...I didn't want to give the impression that it is incorrect to address adult women (18+) who have never been married as 'Miss.' It is indeed acceptable, as is 'Ms.'
