Addressing Envelopes

Addressing Envelopes

I was just about to start adressing my envelopes to get them ready to be sent out... I was going to chose a nice font... kind of like handwriting or calligraphy, but i read somewhere that you are NEVER supposed to type an envelope... it has to be hand written...

Is that true?

Hmmmmmmmm interesting! I never heard that before. It's probably NOT considered proper etiquette or a formal way of addressing envelopes. But I'm not sure. I curious now though!

I never heard that!! I know it is poor etiquette to use a label on a formal wedding invite. Most laser printers do a really nice job!

My envelopes were printed off a printer in a really nice calligraphy font. I think it depends on your budget. Either way they can look gorgeous.

Mine will be printed on a printer.

I never heard that before either. I plan on printing mine on my printer. I'm printing directly on the envelopes though, definately not on labels.

Mine were printed off the printer in a really nice calligraphy font also. I def don't think labels should be used.

i don't think labels are such a bad idea. i think that's one of the 'no-no's' that is exaggerated. i think we'll have to do labels though because we're doing velvet scrolls that will come in long boxes. can't stick a box in the printer

sn00k4,

I was excited to see your post about invites because your one week after me. I'm 3/1/03 and my invites just went out. I also had my envelopes printed with the same font that was used for my invites. I haven't heard that this is against etiquette but if it is TOO BAD!

Good luck girlie!

Traditionally, invites were handwritten. But now, with all of the beautiful fonts available, it's not tabboo. There are even businesses out there that will print your envelopes on a computer to save on calligraphy costs. Just wake sure that whatever font you choose if legible.

I printed mine in a nice font off of the computer - my handwriting would have ruined them, and couldn't afford a calligrapher! Like always, you need to pick and choose what is worth it to spend your 'extra' money on, for me that wasn't one of the things!

Re: Addressing Envelopes

I believe proper etiquette dictates that Thank You notes should have the address handwritten as opposed to printed. This is to be sure it is a personal note. As for wedding invites laser printing is definitely fine!

i did mine using a printwer and they came out very nice...i think if you are on a budget and don't have them hand-written by a calligrapher, a printer is the next best thing...

I read that envelopes are supposed to be handwritten too, but I am definitely using a printer.

Re: Addressing Envelopes

Does anybody know how I can get my envelopes printed by somebody else using a printer? I know it will take me forever.
Unless anyone has some tips? I'll be doing mine soon.
If there is a company that does the printer printing, how much does it cost?

There is a vendor on here called All Type Computer Calligraphy. I don't know what their prices are like though. Check under the calligraphy category in services.
