I agree. I think you should use the first names too.

Re: Addressing Inner Envelope
All the etiquette sites I visit say I should use Mr. and Mrs. Smith on the inner envelope. But I'm using Mr. and Mrs. John Smith on the outer so it seems so formal to use Mr. and Mrs. again. Just wondering what everyone else is doing.

I personally like the idea of using first names on the inner envelope, i think it is more personal. JMO

Re: Addressing Inner Envelope
I might do only first names so that people realize their kids are not invited. I have many cousins that all have at least two kids each, one has eight. total 51 kids. Just John and Mary might make it a bit more obvious that kids aren't invited.
Also, what about female guest who are married but who have kept their maiden name?

Re: Addressing Inner Envelope
I had fun with the inner envelope. I mostly did first names but also wrote 'Mom and Dad' for my parents and 'Maid of Honour' for my sister. It came out really lovely.

I did Mary and Joe
Or Mary and Guest.
Spell out the word 'and' though.

I did the same thing. I like the personalization of it, even though most etiquette rules say otherwise.

Re: Addressing Inner Envelope
Formal is good for the outer, but then you should actually put the names of everyone invited on the inner, even if it's 'and family' I was told you should put all the names individually.
I like the 'mom and dad' and maid of honor thing, that's cute

Re: Addressing Inner Envelope
I was JUST going to post this question - how funny. I think first names would be nice, too, even if it is improper. It seems silly to do Mr. & Mrs. on the outside and the inside.
The mom and dad and maid of honor thing is cute. :)

Re: Addressing Inner Envelope
I'm glad I'm not the only one using the first names on the inner envelopes! Etiquette DOES say not to, but I just don't like it that way. I'm putting 'John and Mary' on the inner envelopes. The only times I will put Mr. and Mrs. Smith on the inner envelope is for the people on FH's side who live in Italy that I've never met.
