I would like to invite a long time friend of my mother's to my wedding (my mom is deceased). The friend is married, but her husband is sick and would definitley not be able to come to the wedding. I would like the friend to know that she could bring someone else as her guest (she won't really know too many people at the wedding). How would you adress the invitation - to Mr. & Mrs? and how would you let the wife know that you know her husband can't come, but she should feel free to being someone else (a friend, her daughter, etc.) Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Addressing Invitation. Help!
i would still address it to her and her hubby ... just because he's sick doesn't mean he shouldn't be personally invited.
you can tell her in person that if he can't make it, she's welcome to bring anyone else as a guest.

I would put Mr & Mrs and maybe include a note inside letting her know if she wants to bring someone else thats fine with you (unless you see her in person often in which case just have a convo with her)

I would address it to the husband and wife-- then maybe a phone call and say that she can bring anyone of course

This! You are being respectful by putting his name but also thoughtful enough to let her know you understand he may be unable to make it and she should feel free to bring someone else

Thaks everyone. I guess this does make the most sense - to include his name and talk to her about bringing someone else.
