Addressing Invitations????

Ladies what are you doing to address your invitations? Is using clear labels with a nice font tacky? I don't think I can offord calligraphy and my handwriting is not that neat.

We just mailed them out yesterday! (sigh of relief) - But I had my FMIL print them directly onto the envelope on a lazer printer. They looked fine.

No labels...it's not so much that it's tacky, it's that it's impersonal. If you can't do them by hand or have someone do them by hand, print directly on the envelope (easy to do from mail merge) but no labels.

I did mine with clear labels with a nice font and although I thought they were nice, FH thought they looked really cheesy. If I could do it over, I would have had someone who has nice handwriting write them out for me with a nice caligraphy pen. If you're unsure, don't do it. You'll regret it, like I am now, and it will be too late

I did mine this week. I printed them on the computer using a Edwardian script. I had to do it one envelope at a time but it didnt take that long. You just change the page set-up to the size of your envelope. They came out great. FM me if you have any more questions

I used the clear labels, red ink(to match the return address ink color), and lucida calligraphy font. I thought they looked really nice actually. I tried writing out a few w/ a calligraphy pen and it looked like a mess. If you can afford to hire someone to do that for you, then go for it!
Printing directly onto the envelope looks fine too.

I am just writing mine out by hand - no calligraphy pen - just good old script. I think it is a little more personal, but honestly, I would never be offended if I got a computer generated invite!!!

I ordered a computer progam called Weddings addressed, and it does the inner and outer envelopes for you

no labels. I feel that even if someone's handwriting looks like chicken scratch, it still feels more welcoming to see that than a sticky label

I used clear labels and a calligraphy font. I thought they looked fine. For the amount of time that these people spend actually looking at your envelopes, this is the easiest and most affordable way. I know when I get an invite, I pull it out and throw the envelope in the trash!!!!!

I suggest printing them right onto the envelopes, using Microsoft Work as a mail merge (we have our guest list with addresses in Excel and merge it right into word).

We did our engagement announcement, save the date and will be doing our wedding all the same way. They came out great so far and I am sure the invites will look great too. You can also put the return address on at the same time with the mail merge.

I think this depends on your own preference... We will be doing the computerized calligraphy... we got it at a good price. I also like the way it looked better.

I think you should do what is best for you and FH. Either way, people will be thrilled to receive your invite!

Good luck!
