addressing invitations - HELP!!!

we're trying to address the invitations, but can't figure out the inner envelope. i know we're supposed to put 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' on the inner - but for relatives and friends that seems cold to me. I feel like I should write something like:

OUTER
Miss Kelly Smith

INNER
Kelly and Guest

or

OUTER
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith

INNER
Ann and John

I don't know. suggestions?? opinions?? please!!???

ps - what do you put on the inner for someone like grandpa...Do i write 'Mr. Johnston' - it just sounds weird to me. am i nuts?

We did the Mr. & Mrs. for the inner, but my mom did read somewhere that you can do first names also if you want to be less formal....I have no idea where she read this, or if it's legitimate, but I've gotten invites like that before....

the inner is supposed to be less formal. technically, if you are inviting mr. john smith, you have that on the outer and have john smith and guest or john and guest or john and jane depending on how close you are with them.

for mine, I don't know if i followed exact etiquette but on the inner (for FH's grandma) I put grandma. for my parents, I put Mr. and Mrs. so and so on the outer, and Mom and Dad on the inner.

This is from a website for suggestions:

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Benson
2710 Lake Street
Allentown, Minnesota 00000

Inside: Mr. and Mrs. Benson

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Green
83 Arden Terrace
Glenfield, Pennsylvania 00000

Inside: Art and Glenda

Mr. Benjamin Brown
64 East 10th Street
Apartment 4F
Fort Larsen, Florida 00000

Inside: Mr. Brown and Guest

etc.

I am actually not doing Mr. & Mrs. inside...only for my boss b/c he has a ph d and also for my parents guests.

For my aunts and uncles I'm putting
Zio Pasquale & Zia Geraldine

Also for my cousins...for example...Richard but I am going to put Richie on the inner

It's your wedding you can do whatever you want remember!

My mom addressed outside as Mr and mrs John Smith

Inside as John and Linda Smith

Or John and guest if not married

I prefer a more formal address on the outer ones, like Mr and aMrs so and so...and on the inner I think informal, like just first names are very appropriate
