Addressing invitations question...

Addressing invitations question...

If you are inviting guests who are doctors, do you REALLY have to address them as Dr. so-and-so, as opposed to the normal Mr. and Mrs. that you would do for everyone else?

And who exactly falls under the realm of 'doctor'...is it just physicians? or anyone with a doctorate degree (in any field)?

My friend was saying that if you didn't address certain people as 'Dr.', they would be offended. Does it really matter? I've never been addressed as 'Dr.' and I could care less.

i would put DR., its true they get offended lol...and yeah its anyone with a doctorate degree in ANY field, you would be surprised...You wanna hear how bad some of them are lol and i dont mean doctors as in physicians only. When i was in dance, our dance teacher danced for alvin ailey and other big companies and i guess you can get a doctorate in dancing lol, and if we would say Ms. sawyer she would give us a look and correct us immediately and say thats DR. sawyer

Most people who are Drs do get offended if you don't use the title. I think most feel they have earned it and deserve to be called Dr. Whats really funny is if you have both husband and wife that are Drs. You ae supposed to address them as 'The Dr's Jones'
