I'm addressing my wedding invitations this weekend and I was just wondering if anyone has any helpful hints for me to make it go smoothly?

any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

How are you doing them on the computer??

I had a check list and then proof read to make sure all address are complete and all names are spelled right.
I checked them off one at a time to make sure I dont forget anyone or make doubles.

do you reccomend addressing invited by computer?
I read somewhere that invitations should be handwritten?

In some religions its considered rude to not hand write them.
Most people in general though have them done professionally by a calligrapher or on the computer.

eta: I definitly reccomend doing it on the computer. In my opinion it seems more formal. Plus if your hand writting isnt really neat and you have alot of invitations to write out they will come out sloppy and it will take forever.

According to formal etiquette the most formal invite is hand written. I'm lucky enough to have a Mom with awesome handwriting who is retired and willing to do it for me.

I recommend you do what you can.

I personally felt that handwritten was too expensive for my budget and my own writing is just not worth it either.

We had RED RED RED envelopes so we used gold labels. No one came back and said 'OMG you used a COMPUTER!?!?!?!' and honestly I had a good number of people say they liked the extra effort we put into finding a font that went with our theme and FINDING gold labels (which was NOT EASY!)

So ...

If it's written somewhere, who cares, do what you want.

NOT TO SAY, that you can't follow other people's general rules if you want to, it's all up to personal preference. I personally ignored everything and did what I wanted.
