What is the general consensus on hand addressing invitations versus printing them out from the computer? I have excellent handwriting and my FH, after reading some etiquette rules, thinks we totally have to hand write them....
Is it worth the effort? We are both designers/artists and care about how things look but I feel like the envelope gets ripped open and tossed out....
Opinions please!! ( I know you got them!)

Re: Addressing Invites?
I think doing them on the computer is completely fine. As you said, they get ripped open and thrown away. Why spend so much time???

Re: Addressing Invites?
I do not have the best script handwriting so I did my addresses labels on the computer and I printed the inner envelope on the computer as well. I do not think there is anything wrong with it. I thought mine looked beautiful. Actually a friend of mine asked if I had an addressing service do them for me.

You can absolutely do them on the computer. You are right, they get thrown away!

I did them with a program Smart Wedding, it's fantastic you can download it right from the site.

Re: Addressing Invites?
Just be careful when you merge the fields - not everyone's address fits the 3-short-line mold. I've found that it's almost just as easy to either hand address, or type each label individually on a full-sheet sticker paper (which I did).

Re: Addressing Invites?
I think better than hand writing them is to do them on the computer- my original idea was to do mine (using a nice calligraphy font that I got from FH's boss) but I know I don't have the patience to do 200 invitations myself...that's only reason why we're doing them by a calligrapher.

Re: Addressing Invites?
Thank you for the advice and the input.... My FH and I decided that we are totally printing them on the computer. Our time + Our Sanity > pretty envelopes.
