Re: addressing invites?...

nope not tacky, INFACT if you go by etiquette that is the most preferred way to do it. They say when you handwrite it, its more personal and more like you are personally inviting them. Its very rare to see so i say go for it

Re: addressing invites?...

what you can do is buy a gold calligraphy pen, i have one and it writes very nice plus the gold will give it that different look

Re: addressing invites?...

So not a big deal to hand write them. But you can also do computer calligraphy

no not at all, or type them on the clear labels!!

i was going to do it on the computer.. but the thing is i dont have any EXTRA envelopes and they were not cheap so im afraid to ruin them on the computer if it gets pulled in crooked or what not.. less likely to screw up if they are hand written..

Clear labels STINK! i tried them for my STD's and i must have smeared 2 pages of them and had to re do.. i was so upset! i dont want to do that again!

Re: addressing invites?...

i know what you mean, but 99% chance my sister is going to handwrite them for me. i was going to do calligraphy but she offered a long time ago and she has great handwriting. she did her own invites many years ago with a gold pen (which of course I couldn't find when i went to a.c. moore). so I think it's nice that she even offered and it saves me the ordeal of printing them myself (whic i wouldn't have done anyway; I would have just paid for calligraphy).

so no,i don't think it's tacky since i'm probably doing the same thing! I did hesitate at first but I think it's a nice personal touch.

If i had someone with nice handwriting i would have them do it, its alot of money

We are printing our envelopes ourselves to save money, FH has a laser printer and its really easy to do.

Re: addressing invites?...

i think it will be fine..i did mine in the computer cause i had so many envelopes

but honestly..its the outer one..its just going to go into the garbage..so handwriting is jsut fine..my moms writing is good too so she did the inner ones and the place cards and anything else that had to be hand written

Re: addressing invites?...

Definitely not tacky. I think it's what I'm going to do. But I'm going to buy some nice pens; I think that'll look nicer than just using a blue Bic or something.

NOT AT ALL!!! I did the same thing - my poor mom has been slaving away with all these invites! Just give your mom ample time for them!

But i think it adds a personal touch!

Re: addressing invites?...

Nope. I wrote them and no one knew I did.
Not only does that make me happy but it saved me money

Re: addressing invites?...

There is nothing wrong with having your mom do it. I had a friend print her invites on labels and put them on the envelopes.

I may just do that myself because its not in my budget either.

I don't necessarily know if that's true .... your mom is HUMAN, and it seems a little crazy to think she's not going to mess up any envelopes at all (you said you don't have any extra).

Professional calligraphers who do this for a living usually require 20% extra envelopes.

That is a A LOT of pressure to put on your mom, that she can't mess anything up!

You might want to call where ever you ordered your invitations from and inquire about ordering just envelopes, for when your mom does make errors. It shouldn't be very expensive, and is definitely less expensive than paying for calligraphy.

That would be wonderful if she would do that for you

Re: addressing invites?...

honestly, they will tear open the envelope pull ot the invite and that is all they will care about. the envelope will be so unimportant.

dont stres just handwrite them!!!!

My cousin whenever seh mails something she uses a ruler as she writes and the print looks so nice.

you can also use a calligraphy pen like denise mentioned
