So I know that the proper way to Address wedding invites is with Ms. and Mr.. However, we are having a small wedding with mostly family and close friends and I feel that its soo weird to call everyone Mr. and Ms. and Miss when FH and I dont talk that way. What are you girls doing?

its just the formality of the envelope, it's nothing to feel weird about

Ita with above poster.
When we did all our envelopes every woman who was not married got a MS. there were SOME exceptions....my neighbors husband just died so we address it as Mrs Martin Wallace. We didnt want to take that away from her 1 month after her husband dies.
but even my divorced mom got MS.
Hope this helps.

We did Mr and Mrs, Ms, etc. Etiquette is very important to me, so I wouldn't do it any other way. Also, our wedding is very formal, black tie optional so it kinda goes with the theme.
If your wedding is casual and you're not into formality, then leave it off. It's definitely not the traditional way to do it so it will make a statement.

Re: Addressing Invites with MS.& MR..
I addressed all the outer envelopes the formal way and on some of the inner envelopes, I just used first names and nicknames for people since they were just close family anyway. So my grandfather's invitation said 'Mr. Jack S_' on the front and then 'Grandpa Jack' on the inner envelope.
Honestly, no one really notices how you address your invitations but you. If you guys are not feeling the formal, do it however makes you happy. This is your wedding!

Its really more for what the person your sending it to goes by... if they are mr. & mrs. so and so then thats how the envelope should be addressed... its not as if you have to refer to them as that when you speak to them...

we used mr., mrs. etc... its just the formality of it, i dont think anyone really calls there friends like mr. smith on a regular basis, and regardless of how casual youre wedding may be, i definitely would still use mr., ms,, etc

I'm doing everyone as either Mr, Mrs. or Ms. (I'm not using Miss).

Re: Addressing Invites with MS.& MR..
FH and I put Mr. & Mrs. for his brother and SIL, and she wrote a post on his facebook saying that she does not carry his last name and to please address her by her maiden name so we don't make that same mistake in the future. The whole family read that post and were taken aback by it.
I guess it's better to address people without Mr. & Mrs. since some wives do not take on their husbands name. I don't know if I would have gotten all offended by it the way that she did, but oh well

I believe the correct way that you would address this when the wife did not take the husband's last name is:
Mr. Your Brother's First and Last name Mrs. SIL's First Name and SIL's Maiden Name ::Insert Address::
I can understand your family's reaction though... I don't she should have addressed it on FB like that (she could have just call you or wrote and email and told you).
