Addressing question

Question for you ladies... How do you address the invitation if the woman is a doctor and the man isn't? Do you put the highest title first? And what if she didn't take his name, but they're married - who do you address the invitation to?

AHHH This is all SO annoying...

I'm not sure what the 'offical' answer is but I always put man 1st then woman

Mr. Joe Smith & Dr. Mary Jones
