when addressing the invitations, how do you put an apartment number in there? do you spell out the word 'apartment' or abbreviate it? also does it go on the address line or on a separate line?

I will have everything written out - but I guess it depends on how formal your invites are.
The apt goes on the line underneath the street address.

I think the rule is only 'Mr.' and 'Mrs.' should be abbreviated
I wrote out everything...
Mr. and Mrs. John Smith 123 Main Street Apartment 4C New York, NY 10000
