Addressing your invitations question...

I would address it to both of you, with both of your full names...not with one just being the first name.

You're totally overreacting.

I had a few people whose last names I wasn't sure about how to spell and I addressed them that way.

At leas they had your name -- they could've written 'and guest'!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you RSVP, you can write your full name in it so they have it for later. They probably just didn't have it.

I was guilty of this when I did my invites. I would just put the first name if I wasn't sure of spelling.

Oh! I have a better one for you. After we got married we got an invitation to Mr. Hubby and Guest.

LOL!! Guest?! I mean really people, you were AT our wedding. I returned the response card that way too..hee hee

I think you are over reacting whether they know your last name or not.. Like Sandra said, they could have just wrote '& Guest' and then I think that would of been worse.

They def know my last name - this is one of FH's best friends, they're in each other BP, we've been together longer than they have and we all went to the same HS!

Maybe they thought that was proper etiquite?

I agree that unless there is a reason for not putting your last name... like spelling... it would bother me too... but i wouldnt let it bother me...

but WOW to you VallieGirl... thats ridiculous

Wow I couldn't imagine being called 'and guest' on an invitation after I'm married... I'd imagine maybe getting invitations to 'Mr. & Mrs. LAST NAME' without first names.

I'm not sensitive about that stuff, though.

I totally spelled my step sister's fiance's last name wrong on the invitation I sent them. My step father didn't know his last name and gave me his best guess, but it was wrong. I called her to apologize as soon as I found out the error. She didn't care at all. I made sure it was right on the escort cards and the thank yous.

Well I guess it's because I despise the bish who he's marrying. LOL
Whatever, when it comes time to send out my invites maybe I'll just write 'and guest' on theirs (they will be married by then). Besides, if he brought someone else to our wedding I wouldn't mind.

DAMN I just let the claws all out. Whoops.

LOL!!!! I did this with one of DH's friends... totally nit-picked about everything when I got their invite.

They had these weird pocket-fold type things (with corner folds) and they were glued together in a way that made the invite stick to the back side... I was secretly happy.

It happens.

You'll get back at them. In the mean time, go to their wedding and have the time of your life!!! Hopefully their cake is better than the one at the wedding we went to that was gross.

Maybe it was a space issue, or they figred they only needed one last name for it to get to the right place. I wouldn't take it eprsonally.

After over 10 years, my family still misspells my FH's name

They probably didn't even realize that they did that. My mother does that when she writes cards to people EVEN WHEN SHE KNOWS THEIR LAST NAMES!

e.g., if she's writing a Christmas card to her cousin and her cousin's boyfriend, even though they live together, she'll write Ms. Jane Smith and Joseph. doesn't really make much sense to me, but people do it!

I'd just let it go that they didn't know any better and didn't mean a slight.

hey it's better than the xmas card we got 2nd Christmas we were married - - from my cousin no less. She forgot DH's last name, knew it fairly simple, starting w B and pulled a 'similar' name out of the sky to address the envelope!!

Re: Addressing your invitations question...

I can totally see why you would feel that way and I completely understand! I had a similiar thing happen to us twice last year- one said 'and guest' and the other just had my first name! It might seem petty to some, but I'll admit it I was pissed especially at the 'and guest' one! Mostly because DH and I have been together for 10 years and were engaged at the time so I felt like a little more effort could have been made to get my last name...especially when one of the guilty parties was DH's coworker-hello you couldn't just ask him at work! I wouldn't let it bother you though or do the same in return.
