adrienne's in central islip or Helene's in commack?
Has anyone ordered BM dresses at Adrienne's or Helene's? These are the 2 I am considering.
I have a dumb question- when the dresses come in and they do alterations- do they charge for the alterations? Is it really expensive?

I have been to both, but did not order my dresses from either. I did like Helen's better though! Adriennes refuses to tell you the designer of the dress until you order it, and they wouldn't let me go through the dresses myself, they had to pick them out for me. I just didn't like the fact that they wouldn't tell me the designer and were snotty about it when I asked!
Helen's was great. I got to rummage through all the dresses and the attendant also helped of course. I thought they were more laid back there.
I got my dress from paradise bridal in patchogue. They are so helpful and will tell you anything that you want. And they have a huge selection! I even took digital pictures every time I was there!
As far as alterations go. I got a cap on my alterations. Bridal gown is capped at 150, and each bustle is 10. The bridesmaid gowns are capped at 65. She came down on prices for alterations for me, and she gave me 10% off of all the bridesmaid dresses!

that's weird about adrienne's? i went in there rummaging through everything and the girl there is so helpful! maybe you were talking about the bridal gown part.
i haven't been to paradise. maybe i'll check that out. do you negotiate on alterations before you order the dresses or when the dresses come in?

Yes, it was the bridal gowns, sorry I got you confused. Negotiate the alterations when you order the dress, because they will wright it down on your order form.

I heard the same thing about Adrienne's-how they won't tell you the designer until you order the bridal gown-I'm guessing they have the same policy when you are looking @ BM Dresses too-They are probably on to the fact that people look, get the designer label and then go and buy it online or somewhere else cheaper--

I got both my dress & the BM dresses at Adrienne's. They let me rummage through the dresses myself both when I was looking for myself & my girls & they did tell me the designers. Maybe it depends who you work with. Anyway, my dresses haven't come in yet, but I haven't had any problems with them. They cap alterations - -I think at $60, but definitely double check on that.
