So my FH's partner at work can get us a DJ with 2 MCs for a 1k..my problem is I can't really find anything out about them...I told FH we have to meet in person and that I didn't want anyone trying to get a wedding under their belt on my time even if it was free. I am not trying to be snobby but I have said since we got engaged the only thing I care about is a good DJ.
They are insured and apparently have worked weddings at Deversky (sp?) Mansion and at Sand Castle but I don't know I want someone that I know that has done weddings and knows my venue...FH is a little ticked that I am getting quotes and trying to find someone else but I explained I am not comfortable. He said turning down a favor is rude..LMAO...Am I being a brat??

It's not rude at all! It's great that someone wants to do you a favor but if they aren't very good then why would you want to take that favor?? lol

Not rude at all.this is your wedding and you want everything perfect! To me music is VERY important! I would be nervous using someone who has only done a few weddings. Good luck!!

true!
I think you're smart to look into other options. A DJ can make or break a wedding and you don't want to be stuck at the last minute in case something goes wrong. Plus, since your FH's partner hasn't been doing this for too long, looking at other DJs gives you a good idea of what DJs typically offer so you know if the favor is even worth it!

Not rude at all for being concerned but doesnt mean u should rule them out either. Meet with them and ask to see video of their work or even a live show. If you are still not comfortable with them the dont feel bad about looking else where. U need to be happy with who you are hiring for one of the biggest days of your life!

I dont think its rude at all. Do they at least have a website? I would definitely want to meet them and see their work. You wouldnt hire a photographer or book a RH without seeing it so the DJ shouldnt be any different regardless of who it is.

I say go with your gut. If you feel weird about it, say thanks, but no thanks.

There is no harm in meeting with him. Who knows, they may have samples or be able to let you see them in action and put your mind at ease. If not, then you know you were right to be looking elsewhere.
