When your friends tell you they're not coming to your wedding, do you ask why or for an explanation?
Or just say okay? I'm a little hurt by the responses.

Well you're wedding is 8/29, which is labor day weekend I believe. Do you think alot of them are going away with friends or rented a house somewhere for the weekend to celebrate?

If so, they still should have known about the date if you sent out save the dates.

ETA: just saw it's a Thursday. I'm sure alot of people are working that friday and can't take off because they are already off on Monday. That could be a major factor as to why you got alot of no's from your friends. Although, I would still be upset if my friends didn't come because of that!

Nope. I didnt ask. Most gave an explanation. Try not to let it bother you so much. They may have a prior event or may be in a tough financial situation.

Weekday weddings are tough for a lot of people. I really wanted our wedding to be on 3/5/14 which is a Wednesday. But I was afraid I'd receive a lot of no's (and our invitation list was pretty small to begin with), so I changed it to Saturday. It's hard to know some of your friends and family won't be there, and it may sound stupid of me to say, but try not to take it so personally. I'm sure your friends and family all want to be there for you and your FH, but sometimes you just can't take off from work.

I got no's from people that I thought for sure would be there, and some of the reasons they gave really bothered me. I wish they gave no reason at all.

I wouldn't ask. If it's a financial reason, you don't want to embarrass them

My date is two days after yours.... I've had a lot of people tell me they had other commitments for the day. Many people on my list are from out of state, or out of the country. Airfare seems to have increased for the holiday weekend. Some are on vacation. There were many others that didn't say why. I assume its the cost. Even though my RSVP date isn't here yet, I've been casually mentioning to acquaintances: 'Hey wanna go to my wedding?' I've had some actually say yes... and very emphatically! (That made me feel good!)

My cousin who is more like a brother to me RSVP'ed no. He had his wife just send in the card checked 'NO' with no explanation. I was pretty upset.
