ADVICE!!!

Hello Ladies,

So I know I am basically not making my minimum and I want to call my venue to see if they will work with me. I have to guarantee 175 but I am only at 164 right now with only I believe 5 more invites to come back. Out of those 5 I believe only 3 people would be coming so that will bring me to 167. (ahhhh) My RSVP is due back this Friday Nov. 1st. Do you think it would be super bad of me to either mail out invites now Or hand some friends invites? I was going to invite these people in the beginning but I had invited 215 and I really didn't' want that many people. I didn't think I was going to receive as many No's as I did. Now I don't know what to do if the hall doesn't work with me. I don't want to have to pay extra for people who aren't there. What would you do????

ADVICE!!! - Long Island Weddings

Some of my friends from college are very informal, and they wouldn't be offended if I invited them at the last minute. That being said, would the people you want to invite now take it in stride or get offended that they are last minute add-ins? Another option for you to consider is seat fillers through this website. I think someone had posted rules for seat fillers a while back (gift amount, etc.).

ADVICE!!! - Long Island Weddings

I think a lot of people do like a 'round 2' of invites, to co workers and other friends who aren't close. If it were me however, I wouldn't include the RSVP card I would just ask that person as I hand them the invite to call with the rsvp. You should also remember to include you and FH in that total number and see if your hall includes vendors into the minimum (I know in my hall the vendor counts as 1/2 a person). Hope that helps!

I agree with Angie. It depends on the people you are thinking last minute. FH and I got invited last minute to one of his coworkers' weddings last year and we didn't mind. We are casual friends with the couple and thought it was nice they thought of us. They insisted we didn't give them a gift (we brought one anyways), but it was nice to have them sort of acknowledge that it was last minute in that way. Ultimately though, its upto you!

If you're caught last minute still below the minimum I'd post about seat fillers on here.

Thank you everyone. yah I think we are just going to pass along the invite to two couples we are Friends with. Like you said, I think they will understand there is an agreement with who you have to invite first and where you want to keep your guest list from getting out of control. Hopefully they will be a yes! Thanks for the help.

What about siblings friends? I know my FH's brother did that at his wedding. That seemed to work.

What about some of your single friends that could bring a plus one?
