Advice about cars: Elantra, Ion, Civic

Hi everyone! My 4-year lease on my Saturn (which I loved, and found to be very reliable) is up in February, so I'll be going car-shopping pretty soon. I am planning to look at the three cars I mentioned in my subject: any opinions? Happy/unhappy owners?

I have a 2004 Civic LX and I love it. The gas mileage is unbelievable and it's been so great so far.

I've been in the Elantra and am not a fan, to me it's too light, I feel like the wind pushes me across the road. Don't know anything about Saturns.

So far, that's exactly the model I'm looking for (I'm hoping to get a leftover 2004 at the end of the year). Can you recommend a good dealer?

My FW has had an elantra for the last four years. She liked it... but yeah she felt it was very small.

It seems though that Huyndai has been improving the reliability of their cars. Talk to FeliciaDA. Her DH drives a new Sonata and from what I have heard him say... its a pretty decent car for the price.

We bought an Elantra (03). I DID NOT want it! I had an 88 Hyundai and what a POS!!! But I have to say this car is awesome. I have no complaints about it what so ever. The car is almost 2 years old and I am suprisingly every happy. The gas mileage is very good, the pick up has improved so much from my 88. It comes with power everything. We put nothing down and our car payments (not leased) are under $250. The only add on that we did was a spoiler, other than that it comes with everything that we wanted, we even got the remote starter!

Any questions please let me know.

Yup, my sister loves her Sonata. I'm more of a cute little car person, though (and I'm only 5'2', so I don't need size...FH is only about 5'6' too!).

Well, back in the day, I had a 1991 Accord and then a 1995 Accord. From my experience, the car DEALERSHIP is the most important part. I prefer the Civic out of the 3 that you mentioned, but I think that the most important thing is where and who will be servicing your car...

I have a '99 Civic LX that I bought new (so it is 5 now!). It has been great--fantastic gas mileage, no problems whatsoever. I was thinking of getting a new Jetta but after hearing stories from friends I think I am going to trade it in for another Civic!

I definitely agree about the dealership (I've had great treatment from Saturn of Lynbrook...for ex., someone knocked off my sideview mirror and they replaced it hours later and gave me a complimentary car wash too!).

My mom's been an Accord driver for years and years: great car.

I got an excellent deal at a place in Brooklyn. To be honest, my brother took care of most of it for me but I'll get the name of the place and let you know.

I had a 97 Civic EX (I think) and I loved it, it was the greatest car. I sold it in 2002 for $9500 so they hold there value as well. I wish I would have bought the Honda Accord instead of the Mitsubishi Galant.

Just make sure that no matter what dealer you use... bring somebody that 'knows the ropes' with you.

No matter how good or recommended the dealer may be... if you don't know your stuff you will get ripped off.

my parents have a civic which they let me drive for about a year. i loved that car. it's so comfortable, gets really good mileage and i never had any problems with it. my hubby also had a civic for about 8 years. he loved it as well, but it started to have problems with it towards the end. but he got a lot of money for it when we sold it last year, something like 8K, which was great. good luck in your choice!
