ADVICE again from all you real estate agents, brokers or whomever actually hahahaha

Ok i know what i want to say, FH kinda wants me to say something different and everybody actually has their own opinion, guess i should see who is right hahaha. Want to see what others think and what advice i can get since so many of you in the business have been more than great and really offered your help.

a couple of you know i went to see an apartment this weekend and what happened from my long a** post hahaha.

Ok well the agent asked if we wanted to make an offer and i said i would like to take the weekend to think about it and she said to call her on monday to let her know whether its yes or no. NOW the thing is that i want to go see a couple of duplex apartments and other apartments too first. I love the apartment we saw but just want to check others out. I dont want to make an offer until i see those other apartments, now what do i say when i call today. Basically do have an interest but we have appointments to see other places and will make a decision after

I would be honest and tell her you really like the place but want to check out a couple of others before you commit.

Make the low offer and see if they counter. In the meantime, go look at other places..When we looked we placed offers, and were still looking..When you find a place you love you'll know right away, but it doesn't hurt to feel out the market. JMO

FH and I do love the place, the apartment is great although its 1 bedroom and we wanted to 2 but we liked it so much we were willing to let that go...It can be converted into a 2 bedroom but one thing we like is the extra living room area and wouldnt want to take that away.

BUT at the same time, i feel like i have to check out duplex apartments in queens. Its not that common in queens hahaha

what if they accept my offer? hahaha

Take your time!!! When I bought my condo I saw a place I 'loved' early on... didn't make an offer b/c my aunt (who's a realtor) said not too and I needed to see some more. Well, after looking at 10-15 more properties I felt SOOO much more educated and saw some things I realized I liked more than the initial property I saw. So glad I waited b/c the condo I ended up with is PERFECT and by far the best out of all I had seen!!

I would be honest, but thats how I am!! I wouldn't be able to commit to the 1st one without looking I would def look around at a couple more you can ask the real estate to keep you informed if they get another offer. We are currently selling our coop and I know when we got our 1st offer the real estate called all other potentials to tell them there was an offer put in

It is a buyers market all the way right now so you totally have the upper hand. Your real estate agent just wants to make her money. If you're not certain, I would just let her know that. Tell her you will give her a call when you are ready.. no need to tell her you're going to look at other places and all of that, that's your and FH's business. There are no 'deadlines' when it comes to putting an offer in on a property. I didn't read your other post, but how long has this apartment been on the market? If it's been on for a while, I wouldn't worry about it. It'll probably still be on the market in a week, two, three etc. The market is VERY slow.

thats how i feel, even though we loved it, it would only be smart to see others. You never know what else is out there

since december. It is true thats why i dont feel we need to act NOW. If we lose it then it wasn't meant to be. I dont want to make an offer right now while i continue to look just to keep that apartment as an option. What if the guy accepts, and then its not right for him to wait on us and then change our minds, i know i would hate it if somebody did that to us ya know. Id rather say we're interested but will like to think about it some more and after we decide we'll either make an offer or call to tell them we wont

You're absolutely right. If he accepts, you'll be in a worse off place. I would continue looking and then put an offer in only if you LOVE a place. Good luck with your search!

Re: ADVICE again from all you real estate agents, brokers or whomever actually hahahaha

I would say be honest- tell her that its the first place that you saw- she probably can send you other listings to look at and keep her eye out for new places that meet your needs- as an agent, I dont ever recommend that someone purchase the first place that they see, its better to look for a couple of weeks and really know what you want & understand what you are getting for the money.

imho, this is the BIGGEST purchase you are making, so dont feel bad about telling her you need time to look. we hear it all the time & understand- plus what kind of agent wants to sell someone something & have them regret it later (bad for the reputation) or worse have the client later pull out of the deal. gl

well i didnt like this agent so i dont want her to show me more places hahahaha. Even if we get this apartment i would not want to work with her, luckily it was someone elses listing and she was showing it for them bc the person has been out.

Thank you. Yeah its true what you say, i mean even if it wasnt the first place we saw, i dont think we have to make a decision in 2 days. When i told her we want to think about it she asked if we can call her on monday to let her know whether its a yes or no, and even if its no to just call on monday

My realtor sold me that in NY all offers are non-binding. So if you are worried about losing the place and love it - throw an offer in and see if they counter. Not saying everyone should go around throwing offers on the table that they don't mean - but it may bide you some time if you feel this is a place you really want. JMO

thats what fh wants to do. Yes i know it is non-binding. I just would honestly feel bad to offer something, have the guy waiting and thinking hes about to sell his apartment and then turn around to tell him no. I just put myself in his position and know how frustrating that would be so i just feel bad lol
