advice for bustle on dress

advice for bustle on dress

Hi,

I have just bought my wedding dress. I have seen many threads on the topic, so I thought I may be able to get some good advice here .

I need a bustle for my dress. My dress skirt consists of four layers, two shorter ones, and two longer ones, where the top layer is beautiful. I do not really care for a train, as I will have an outdoor wedding, and am seriously considering just cutting off the longer layers to be just longer than the shorter ones. Alternatively, I would like a bustle that makes the dress prettier, and keep the train (or part of it). In any case, I don't want to hide the beautiful top layer by pulling the long ones over it.

Here is a picture of my dress, where it shows the dress without crinoline (I will wear a smaller one underneath on the day, one or two hoops):

Have any of you had a similar dress? COuld you describe what you did for a bustle? Do you maybe have some nice pictures to show the end result?

In any case, I would be REALLY happy for any kind of advice, as I am considering doing it myself .

A french bustle would probably work. My decoration is similar., and a french I think tucks underneath instead of the bottom coming up.
I 'll post pics sunday after I pick mine up :)

I would suggest a double french bustle - it's pulled up under enough on each side. I don't have a good picture but maybe you can search for one.

Good luck!

I think French would be best...it will add dimension to the back and will also help you to even out the longer and shorter parts of the train.

I had a double french. For that dress since you dont love the bottom layer you can have them do the underneath hooked higher and the top part (which you love) hooked lower.

I did a combo of the traditional and french bustles - which would probably work with your style dress...

My train wasn't as long, but I had a chifon dress so there was still that top layer. What they do is, give the bottom layer (the bulk of it) the french bustle, then make the top layer a traditional bustle. I liked it because the top layer laid very nice, and didn't give it that 'poofy' look some dresses can do.

Here's pics from the fitting, with the train down, and then bustled the day of!

Thanks a lot to all of you for the advice. Seems like french bustle is the fav here

What would you guys think about just cutting the train off (I mean so that long layers are just slightly longer??

I am still REALLY keen on more pictures (BTW: you all have really lovely dresses - I am so jealous that you are all already set - currently it seems to me that with the sale of the dress the stress really only just starts
