advice from a married woman

advice from a married woman

Hey ladies, I was answering an FM and I though that i should pass the advice and my opinion in to you ladies that are now planning the little details. First of I reccomend to start buying the small stuff now because the more you wait the more stuff you are going to have to buy. Always check ebay or even ask in this site before buying something and try not to pay full price for something that you can get at discount (you are only going to use once).
Dont go crazy with extras but know where to spend the money.. I can give you a list of things I though where worth it and what not:
Bathroom basket: great thing because it was even helpfull for FH, but dont go to crazy with what you put in them (I reccomend, tylenol, baby wipes, a little sweing kit (from the dollar store) stein remover etc. I got the things at target travel bin and dollar store)
Menus: I did them myself and It was helfull mostly because I did them in English and spanish as most of my guests came from DOminican republic.
Cake cutter: waste of money! I got the personalize ones. no one notice the only time is used is for the picture and they are cover with cake lol. Use the ones at the RH
tosting flutes: same thing as cake cutters. I used the ones from my family so I didnt spend money and i am gratefull for it.
Table numbers: everyone love them and they cost me close to nothing ($1.50 including picture frame and picture print)
Table card arrangement: Personaly I think it was really pretty but no one notice it for more than 10 minutes lol
place card: I spend less than 25 dollars with what I did and I dont think I should of spend more, it is not that necessary.
signing board: I bought one at michaels with coupon (50 off) great price.. and now it look great in our office, simple and cheap.
Cake topper: It was a DIY project and it look really nice and I am glad I took the time to do it myself because otherwise I think they are over price.

My last piece of advice is if your wedding is big hire a day of cordinator I had a small budget and a small wedding so I didnt get to hire one but If the it was any difference (bigger wedding, more money or think about this before) I would of get one.
Again remember, everyone have a different budget and this is what I thought it was worth for me.
HTH any question just ask and good luck with the planning

Thanks for the advice! I definitely agree with you about the flutes and the cake cutting set! Everyone on this site has such great ideas on how to make the wedding more special, but I have to hold myself back on certain extras or I would have no money left!
