Advice from Teachers

I'm considering getting my Master's in Education, but not sure yet. I have a Master's in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Education. I'm trying to figure out where in the educational system can I combine my MPH with a Master's in Ed. For all you teachers, do you know what the educational background of the health teachers in your schools is? From what I remember, my health classes were mostly about fitness and nutrition and some about sex education. I tried substituting while I was doing my master's in a Queens elementary school. I really enjoyed the classroom setting, but I don't want to waste my PH degree and experience. I looked into Queens college and noticed that it's a 45 credit program for Elem. Ed. If I do it full time, I can do it in a couple of years. Any ideas?

Well, that's the problem, I'm not a nurse and I'm not a registered dietician, which would help alot

The health teachers that I had in HS were all certified in Phys Ed., but where I teach now they have different certification. I'm not sure what it's in, but I can ask.

i believe my district only hires dual certification health/phys. ed.
there are very few health classes offered (even though it is a 7-12th grade school) so we need very few health teachers.

i alwasy thought health was a phys ed degree...but the health teacher in my school has a bio degree (I think) she is part of the science department...
