Advice Needed!

Yesterday, one of my co-workers told me that she has a friend that does letter press stationery. She told me that if I am interested in having letterpress invites, she would lend me her friend's catalog because her friend would give me a really good deal.

When I came in to work this morning, I had a voicemail from my co-worker, telling me that she wants to BUY the invites for us, b/c she was going to get us something anyway.

Now, this is a really generous and kind gesture, but I don't know if I should accept. I have my co-workers on my B list... I was only going to invite them if I got a lot of 'no's, because I have only been here 2 years, I don't see them outside work, and I work in a small dept-6 people- so I would have to invite them all. If I accept her offer, obviously, I will invite them all to the wedding (6 people plus prob 3 guests, but prob only 6 would come total). That's not such a big deal, since I was thinking of doing that anyway, but my biggest issue is that this is just too generous of an offer. Even if she gets the stuff at cost, it must be a lot of $$.... Help! Do you think it is too generous? I love letterpress, but I find it hard to accept such generosity. Thoughts? TIA!!

I'm with you - I would be uncomfortable, too. Personally, I would say that I was really overwhelmed with her generosity but I can't accept a gift of that magnitude. I so appreciate the offer but me and FH are paying for everything and want to feel as if we did it on our own, but if she could help me get a little discount, that would be great… I would go on and on about how generous it was, though. I just don’t like accepting things like that, but that’s just me!! I know people who have NO PROBLEM with stuff like this, but I would feel like I owed this person something then...

It really is generous... but I would feel uncomfortable, too. Then you feel like you can't get what YOU want because someone else is paying. I think because she even offered this, you may still have to extend her the invitation to your wedding. That was very generous to even OFFER!

You can even say that your FMIL has already offered to buy the invitations and you're just trying to get her the best price possible.

WoW...that a tough one... I guess if i was in that situatin and my brother offered something like that i woud accept in a heartbeat, if a freind or co-worker offered something liek that I wouldn't be able to accept that. Especially if you are not all that close. I would just tell her that ur parents sibling/maid of honer or someone already offered to buy u that as a small gift. So if she could get you the info and the prices that would be a great gift in itself.
I dunno i think i would just feel like i owe her something if someone i wasn't too close with did that for me.. Good Luck, Hope i helped.
