ADVICE NEEDED!

ADVICE NEEDED!

Hi....

I feel a little silly asking this but I want to be prepared.

What questions should I ask the florist? (I want to check out Flowers by Burton)

At this point, I don't know what types of flowers I want (getting married 10/2/04).

Is it OK to ask them to show me samples or what they would recommend for that time of year?

Do I need to know the colors that my bridesmaids will be wearing?

When is the best time to make my appointment if my wedding is next October?

I'd appreciate any feedback you can provide!

You can go whenever you want to look at florists...although I've heard that some may not see you if you wedding is still a year away.

You may want to go there knowing the color of your girls dresses...otherwise you and they won't know what color scheme the flowers should be.

Sure, it's ok to ask for samples of what the bouquets will look like or they may just show you tons of pics of things they've already done.

Good Luck and I'd say you still have some time so don't stress yourself out over this.

yes, I was told to know the color of my Brides maids, because the flowers will need to match up, they can definately show you samples or give you advice, my guess is you could probably go a fwe times until you are satisfied, have you looked through magazines and saw anything you like?

Thank you...I'm a 'newbie' and I just love this site
!

I wasn't stressing until I got some feedback from someone who said that she wanted to use Flowers by Burton but they were booked for the day she wanted? She suggested I see them ASAP. I honestly never heard of a florist turning down a wedding - unless maybe they had multiple weddings that day??

It seems that some florists only take 1 or 2 jobs a day while others can do a ton- it just depends on the florist. I was also unaware that we'd have a problem until I called Burtons and was told that they are booked.

I've never heard of that either...a florist being booked...so, I'd just give them a call then and see what they say.

That is because both Jack and Rose and Burtons only do one wedding at a time. Which in all honesty is better because they can dedicate the time to you.

when my MOH booked her florist (burtons) all she needed to know was the # of everything she needed, and whether she wanted high centerpieces or low. Burtons didnt let her pick her flowers until 2 months before (it was the same price for any flowers) She picked, by going through their books, the type of centerpieces she wanted and he gave her a price. At the time, we hadnt picked our BM dresses out so she wasnt sure of color even!

I think its good to look about a year out for a florist- this way you can see what types of flowers and arrangements are in season for October.

you definetly want to see their work and make sure their style fits yours. also be secure in their quality and flower care. that is why I am using Jack & Rose,,wedding sepecialty florist. I don't want to worry that they did not do what I asked, not fresh, etc. I want dependability, and professionalist. Flowers are very important to me. they are the final touch of beauty, that completes the day!!!!

Hi....

I'm hearing more and more about Jack & Rose on this site.

Are their prices comparable to Burton's?

Re: ADVICE NEEDED!

I did. The prices were very close, jack was a little more cheaper and he added decorating extras for reception, he also spend 3xs more time with me than Burtons.
