advice needed about e-ring/jeweler - BAD NEWS!

Here's the story ladies...my e-ring is just over a year old, it's a white gold tension sension setting with two diamonds set into the setting on each side. Month ago one of the side diamonds came loose. Went back to the jeweler (friend of FH's mother's boss) and he 'fixed' it..had my ring for 2 weeks. Last week, it came loose again.
I brought it to another jeweler and had them take a look at it...he put in under this 'microscope' and showed me. The middle diamond is ready to come out!
He said my stone should not be in a tension setting, it's unsafe. I asked him what he thinks I should do...get a new setting, he says!?!?!
So, I went to two other pretty reputable jewelers (here in Rochester) and they kinda said the same thing. Although one said he could create a 'cage' inside the tension to hold the diamond in.
Ladies, sorry so long, but I am distraut! I do not want to go back to the original jeweler that didn't know what he was doing. Or, should I get a completely new (not tension) setting? any advice? thanks...

I would discuss it with FH so that he doesn't get offended with any changes made to the ring... Remember, that is his personal gift of love to you!

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would try to find out if the setting came with any sort of guarantee. One year for it to be falling apart is absurd! Hopefully your FH can get his money back for the setting, and you can bring that money elsewhere to get it re-set. What a bummer!

First off, make sure whatever jeweler you choose to correct this problem is reputable and honest. Also remember not to leave your ring/stone with them to be repaired, the resetting process, if you choose to do this, can be done in front of you.

Talk it over with FH and go together to a jeweler and discuss again the different ways to keep your stone in a tension setting, or maybe get a new, more secure setting. A good jeweler will know what is the best way to go. If you need a good jeweler FM me and I'll give you his info. A few ladies off the board went to him and now use him also.

Good Luck and make sure you take care of this immediately before you loose the center one

Thanks ladies...FH and I discussed it last night. I'm not sure if we got a garantee with the ring, but a friend of ours here in Rochester gave us the name of her jeweler (very reputable AND she has a tension setting!). So, we are going to see him this morning. I'm not sure if we should even deal with the other guy...maybe to get the money back for the setting and we could use it toward a new one.
And jen you are right, I won't let that diamond out of my sight! Thanks again ladies and I'll let you know how it works out!
