ADVICE NEEDED: Beach Wedding - rent or restaurant?
Hello all! I just got engaged and have my heart set on a beach wedding. I don't know if I should rent a house or go with a restaurant. Please let me know your thoughts:
1. RENTING A HOUSE: Did you rent a beach house for your wedding? Do you have suggestions as to location? etc?
2. RESTAURANT: Any thoughts on Atlantica? Similar venues?
Thank you!!!!

What size wedding? Atlantica is gorgeous! I also love Land's End, which is my hall.
I've heard good things about Chateau La Mer, but haven't been there.
For a smaller wedding, right on the water, I'd check out the Old Field Club or the Miller Beach Surf Club.

Lessings has a location at Sunken Meadow, my MIL said when she went to a wedding there, they had their ceremony at the beach.
If you rent a house, you will need to rent everything, which is a lot, utensils, plates, stemware, linenes, tables, EVERYTHING. It is a huge undertaking, my siggestion is look at all of the venues that offer beach ceremonies and also look into a beach ceremony at your perfect beach and then going to a resteraunt or catering hall. Most guests will be fine seeing as most times they travel from the church to the RH. Good Luck, hope you find the place of your dreams

i agree! i had the same dream as you, but unfortunately it was unrealistic. besides renting all of the stuff, we couldn't find a house to rent it (and i don't know anyone who has a waterfront home). we went with the beach club estate in lake ronkonkoma. i looked at the lessings sunken meadow property, gorgeous view, but i was turned off by the fact that they would charge each guest $8 to park (unless we forked it out) and the room wasn't my style.
my sister didn't get married on the water, but she took all of her pictures on the beach, so she had beautiful pics for her album.
anyway, i don't want to discourage you, because it can be done... i just couldn't get it together for myself (i live in SC), but regardless of what you do, your wedding will be beautiful!
good luck!

I had a beach themed tent wedding in Hampton Bays...on the water..not on the beach...the place is also a restaurant so they supply all the food, tent, chairs, etc...and you can take pics on the beach right down the road...here's a link to some pics & my review...you can check out more in my albums! Congrats & good luck!!!
Re: ADVICE NEEDED: Beach Wedding - rent or restaurant?
we're having our ceremony @ robert moses, which is a little tough to plan in terms of logistics, but i have my heart set on saying my vows with the beating surf in the background, so we're making it work. we're doing the reception @ west sayville country club on the bay because it's an affordable option. my dream place was gurney's, but alas, way too expensive to justify when we want to buy a house soon after the wedding.
good luck!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I am beginning to agree that renting out a house might be too daunting a task. I looked into Atlantica and loved it but incredibly pricey for Saturday night on warm months. I am going to take a look at Gurney's and see what they are like. . .

I looked at Crecent Beach Club and Lands End, both on Beach the beach. At the crescent, you get married right on the beach, which I loved. I was quoted 140 for a Sunday night in july. Lands End's ceremony is overlooking the beach, but not right on the beach. But you can walk onto the beach for pictures. It was a little less pricey -- 125 for a Sunday night. I cringe to think about what Sat. night prices are!

I'm having my wedding at Gurney's. You get married right on the beach and they take of everything. So professional!
The price is between $150-$165 (sat. night), but it comes basically with everything. All you need is flower/photo/band. Plus you can have a beach bonfire. I loved Atlantica too, but it's considerably more expensive and I think Lands end is also a lot more.
If you have any more questions....FM me!

my brother's wedding was at the surf club and it was AMAZING. it was the best wedding i've ever been to and i swear it's not just b/c it was my brothers. everyone had an amazing time and the ceremony next to the beach was amazing.
