advice! nwr

ok so fh is a pack rat. iam ,too..with clothes. i wont throw out any clothes of mine. but its REALLLY bad with him. he has a ROCK collection inside a charlie brown lunchbox. ***?!!!

i(we) reaaaaaaaaaallly need the space in the closets, especially with my (our) shower coming up. i just dont like the clutter. to the naked eye, the house looks pretty empty.. but those closets are sooooooo baddddddd.

we have a caraffe thats WARPED. like the glass is bent n shyt. i tried throwing it out last nite and fh yelled at me 'NO I LIKE THAT WHEN PEOPLE COME OVER!!' dude, WHENNNNNNNN have we EVERRRR used it?? he then proceeded to take it out the garbage and put it in the front closet (where the coats are) 'its an antique , its no warped'.. me -'babe, its 2$ at AC MOORE'

sooooo should i wait til he leaves the house and just throw everythhhhhhhhhhhing out? or continue letting him be a pack rat???

LOL, I have way tooo many clothes but as a compromise, I look through my closet every few months and if I see clothes that I haven't worn in a year, I give it away. I just ended up giving away at least 50 pieces of clothing a few weeks ago.

I wouldn't throw it out when he leaves the house, he will just get mad when he gets home. What you can do is just show him that you're getting rid of some clothes and he will have to get rid of stuff that he will never use / that doesn't have any sentimental value. He will see it as a compromise (well you hope at least).

Good Luck.

Honestly maybe its sneaky but I'd say to throw it out when he's not there. My reasoning for this is that I bet he doesn't even know most of what is in there, but if you go through it with him he'll insist that he NEEEEEEDS everything. Most likely he won't even notice that the stuff is gone. I'm not saying it as an insult to his intelligence or anything, but mostly knowing that this exact thing has been done to me a bunch of times and once the stuff was gone I couldn't even remember half of what was in there to begin with.

Then I guess on the off chance that he actually goes looking for some random thing just feign ignorance like 'I have no idea where it is...it isn't in with all of your sh!t?? Here let me help you look...'

just throw it all away!!!!! tellhim to stop hoarding.. you need to make room for all your new things...

Perhaps you can put his rock collection into the caraf and use it for decoration?? lol

Re: advice! nwr

lolllll thats exactly what i planned on doing.

o man... 2 weeks ago we went over our friends museum/ RH-like house and she flushed baby wipes earlier that morning.. so when fh went to puke up the bottle of sambuca , the terlit overflowed and the ceiling started dripping onto my head and hand... it was NASTY.. so anyway
as fh and the guy was clenaing up, our friend gave fh a pair of socks. i washed them the next day to offer them back lloollll.. but as i was vacuuming (heaaaavvvvy duty shop vac) , 1 sock got ****** in... me ebing lazy.. i didnt feel like opening the vacuum up, so i ****** up the other sock.

fh was loooking for the socks for like 20 min.. i had to confess they were in the vacuum.

he was soo piiiiiiiiiiiiii$$Ed lmao

i can pretend for a lil bit, but i dont think i can get away with throwing his stuff out lol

Throwing stuff away when he's not home could backfire. I know I'd be hurt if someone did that with things that I had an emotional attachment to.

Could you agree that you each get x amount of space (you for clothes, him for his misc. stuff) and the rest has to go into storage for an agreed-upon amount of time. If you don't go to reclaim any of that stuff within that time, obviously you can live without it, and it's time to let it go.

im not throwing away his rocks.. all that childhood (ehh early 20's) shyt can go in his dads attic , liek the man offered ! lol im talking bout stupid warped caraffes, yard glasses(huuuge beer glasses with wooden stands that im guilty of buying for him)..literally 5,000 tea lights from IKEA, along with 2720973 tealight holders from the dollar store that we will neverrr and have never used cuz they are such a fire hazaard lol

blahhhhhhhhhhhh

ive put up listings on criagslist under the 'free' section for curb alerts in the past. its funny watching random ppl go thru our trash at night. but i cant do that this time cuz he doesnt want to get rid of anything

In this case then I'm fully on my 'throw it out when he's not home' train.

Will he REALLY miss all that crap you never use?? He'll probably be happy to have the space.
