Advice on Bridal Salons

Advice on Bridal Salons

I haven't started looking for a dress yet since we aren't getting married until 2006 but any suggestions on Salons were I wont be driven crazy by sales people. I think the last thing any bride wants to put up with is rude or incompetent sales people, right?

I bought my dress my first day out at Priscilla of Boston. I have had a very positive experience with them.

Hope this helps.

The ladies at Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook have been fantastic. My friends are using them for their weddings too!

Good luck!

(David's is a good place to start looking though. It was for me. Though it can be a little impersonal, they have a lot of dresses in every size. You can try on all different styles and see what you like and to see what looks best. I assume that, like me, you have never really tried on dresses before this. I went to David's and then went to my salon.)

I thought about Davids but wasn't sure what their dresses were like and i heard some bad things about the staff. I also heard that Lillettes in Baldwin were staffed with rude people. Has anyone heard about them?

I have heard good things about Bridal Reflections too.

I don't know what your schedule is like, but I found that it really helped so much to go during the 'off hours' to bridal salons. I made most of my appointments during the week in the middle of the day, while most other brides were at work. I pretty much had the places to myself which was really nice--no one tripping on my veil or train (except my BM of course ) which is what happened when I started working and had to make weekend appointments.

As for places to go, I had the BEST experience at Wedding Salon of Manhasset. Ask for Noreen, she's so sweet. I'm actually going back today to look at some more dresses. I also thought Bridal Reflections in Carle Place was fantastic--I worked with Jackie and Lorraine there. At Kleinfelds, I worked with Rita. She was nice but started to get a little 'tude when my friends picked out a dress for me to try on while we were on our way out. It was a Saturday so I can understand, but I could sense she was annoyed. At the Amsale store, Jena was really helpful. They have HUGE rooms too. It was really nice. Hope this helps!!

i can only speak for kleinfeld's, but i had a great experience there. it's a great place to go for the LARGE selection, even if you don't ultimately end up buying there.

Lillette's was great to me the entire time - the people were so nice. There must be one bad salesgirl somewhere ruining their name...

*shrug*

I'm a plus sized bride and dealt with Geri - never did she make me feel like a plus-sized bride (which all of the other salons did; you could see how their attitude changed when I said I was the bride)

Lillette's is awesome! Christina was great to deal with.

I also had a pleasant experience at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue. I had Liz.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for the advice. The person who told me about lillettes is a little pushy to begin with so maybe she set the sales person off by being a bridezilla lol

As with anything, I think this business is how you treat people. If you treat people (even salespeople!) with respect and courtesy, they will do the same to you (in most cases).

If you are bridezilla, rude and uncontrollable, of course people are going to be on their worst side when dealing with you.

Remember what your Mommy taught you; please and thank you. Just because you're the bride doesnt mean you are the end all and be all!

I totally agree with this. I went to BR in Mass and I thanked the saleswoman for her help. She said it was pleasure b/c I was so nice. I was like I would think as a bride, being that it's such a happy time, all of them would be nice (I'm very idealistic!) and she said she recently had a bridezilla that was a horror to deal with LOL Not to say that there aren't some really awful salespeople out there; I'm sure there are!
