Advice on gift return/exchange. . .

We received a coffee maker at the shower, but it was the wrong one. We registered for the thermal grind and brew by cuisinart and we were given the regular one. They did not give us any receipts but said they bought it at Fortunoff's where we were registered and they thought it was the one we registered for so didn't keep the receipts. So now we have this wrong coffee maker and no receipts . . . do you think if we explain this to fortunoff that they would let us exchange it anyway, since we had a different version of the coffee pot on our registry?

From what I have heard, Fortunoffs is good at exhange/returns.

You shouldn't have a problem with it, but it doesn't sound like they bought it off your registry. Did you check your registry to see if it came off?

they didn't buy it off of the registry because it is the wrong one. They got us the glass one, but we wanted the thermal one. They thought they got the right one

if it's a current item, Fortunoff might take it back. It's definitely worth a try.

IMO, they didn't get it at Fortunoff. Why wouldn't they have scanned the registry, or even given you a receipt? If your shower was only yesterday, how did they realize so fast that it was the wrong coffee maker? Well, unless my mom was at your shower. When I had my shower, every time I opened something that she didn't recognize, she would yell out, 'Was that on your registry?' My mom is awesome. (I had SO MUCH stuff that wasn't on my registry that I had to call out sick the next day so I could run around and get rid of everything because we didn't have room to walk in the condo. We were literally climbing over boxes and bags of 'unrequested' gifts.

It can't hurt to try and return it. If they carry the item then at the worst they'll probably give you a store credit and you can use that to buy the one you really wanted.

If Fortunoffs carries it, they will definitely take it back. They have a great return policy. Besides you're not really returning- your exchanging for the correct one.
