Ladies! HELP! I'm not sure if any of you have been in my situation/ know someone that has/ or just know what to do in my case.
I lost my job. I put a $1,300 deposit down on a dress back in February. I can't afford the dress now. Plain and simple. I just can't. I need that money refunded back to me. On my receipt, it says 'ALL SALES ARE FINAL. There are NO returns or exchanges.' The copy of my receipt isn't signed.
Here's the thing, the manager of the salon admitted to me that they don't place the orders until 5 months before the wedding cause they don't want to store it. I have 15 months before my wedding, so I KNOW for a fact that the order hasn't been placed yet. Do you think they would refund me my money, since technically they aren't losing out on anything since the order hasn't been placed. I'm so scared to lose this money. That's my rent payment right there. I'm soooo uspet.

Re: Advice on Refund for Gown!
I am sorry to hear that. I am honestly not sure how that works. Good luck. I hope you find a new job soon
I think you should go there and explain to them your situation. I can understand why they would have that as a policy, and that even if they didn't order the dress yet, they wouldn't want everyone putting deposits down and then having to refund them. But at the same time, you're right, it wouldn't hurt them to refund your money. Just calmly explain to them that circumstances have changed since the time you put down the deposit, and that you aren't doing so well financially. Explain to them that you need this money for rent, and that you would really appreciate if they could make an exception to their policy.

I really hope they are sympathetic to my situation. Technically it's a service that has yet to be rendered, but I'm not sure how much they'd be willing to overlook their policy. I will call tomorrow and see.
I honestly think you'd have a better shot if you went there in person as opposed to calling them, because then perhaps they'll see that you're being genuine about your reason for wanting the deposit back, rather than having buyer's remorse.

ITA! I'm so sorry to hear about your situation and hope you find a new job real soon. You should go in person because I feel it would be difficult and cruel of them to turn you down given the situation.

I'm so sorry that you are in this situation. Pretty much every salon notes no returns or refunds on deposits, and I believe they stick to them pretty strictly. I agree with the other girls and I think you should go down to the salon, ask to speak to the manager and just explain your situation. You never know they may agree to refund your money, or maybe apply the deposit to another less expensive dress. Good Luck!
In case going down to the store does not result in the outcome you want, you did say that your credit card slip was not signed?? There are ways to fight that...but I would say using this as a last ditched effort! If you went through AMEX, you can dispute anything! Good luck!

The credit card receipt I definitely signed, but there's another computer printed receipt from the salon with no signature on my copy. I did use AMEX actually, I just don't know what I would tell American Express?

Re: Advice on Refund for Gown!
My cousin had a situation where she payed for a dress and then fell in love with another and she wanted her money back and the store would not refund her $$. They only gave her a credit.
I would say go in person and talk to the manager in person and explain your situation. Maybe they can make an exception with you but majority of the time they don't refund .. they might give you a credit.
