advice on STD's and FMIL

hey girls,

ok, so a few months ago FH and I made our STD's and gave them to our parents - the rest will go out shortly. anyway, FMIL called FH tonight and asked him to send an STD to one of her friends, who we were on the fence about inviting due to money and space issues (FIL's are not contributing towards wedding). she said if we dont' send them a STD, she is sending them hers. what do we do?

I honestly don't have the words...I'm infuriated for you! I can only say that you and FH need a united front to say in no uncertain terms that these people will not be sent an STD without your permission and if she sends it, you'll embarrass her by calling them and telling them that it was sent by mistake OR that they will not receive an invitation and FILs won't get one either since they can't be trusted with wedding stationery!

What I would want to say - is 'If you are going to send them yours we are very sorry you are choosing to give them your seats and not coming'

obv you can't do that. . but I would say that you can't add people to your list right now and you are happy to put them on your B list (Q really) if people can't attend but right now can't do it. .

thanks girls. FH and I still can't believe that FMIL is doing this. FH said he is going to call her tomorrow and tell her that they won't be getting an STD and when the time comes to send out invites, we will make a decision then

Good luck with that one! Sometimes dealing with difficult FMIL can be a bit trying, especially about issues like yours. Please keep us posted with how the conversation goes.

wow. i'm so annoyed for you! i agree with what the other girls are saying though. you and your FH have to stay together on this, if he's going to speak with FMIL good. just be clear and leave nothing to interpretation. i wish you both luck that everything goes smoothly!! keep us posted for sure!
