Advice please

Advice please

Saturday I am going with my bms to order their dresses. I emailed them today just to remind them about the time and where to meet. One of my BMs emailed me back saying that she is on a diet and that she already lost 10 lbs in 1 week and that she is planning on losing another 20 lbs. She wanted to know if she could wait a couple of months before she gets fitted and order her dress.

Now I emailed her back saying that we could order her a smaller size then what she is now and that it wouldn't be a problem to take in the dress. The price of the dress includes alterations so even if they had to do a lot of work the price wouldn't change.

What do you girls think?? I want the dresses ordered together to make sure they are all in the same dye lot. Am I being a bridezilla by not waiting??? I have had too much drama this week already...with my other cousin dropping out because she 'couldn't afford' a $50 deposit...nor a $220 dress.

TIA

Oh this is the dress. The whole dress is the lighter pink and the sash is the darker pink.

Re: Advice please

Honestly, I understand you wanting to order them all together and I am doing the same, but BM dresses usually dont take nearly as long as bridal gowns. My friend is getting married in Oct and her BMs still havent ordered their dresses yet. I am waiting for my BMs to order until at least August/Sept probably. I am worrying about myself first!

Re: Advice please

its always better to order bigger
its easier to take in - if its too small they cant add material
besides, she doesnt know how much she will lose

I have the same issue w/ my cousin who is having a baby next month and wants me to wait months before we order b/c she is going to lose weight. I told her that we will order the dresses no later than August and if she needs to have it altered to fit once she loses weight then so be it, but a lot of times people say I amgoing to lose this and I am going to lose that and unfortunetly it doesn't happen and if it does, well thats what altering is for. I would tell her to go now with you and deal with the weight and the altering later. Good Luck.

Re: Advice please

just wondering, do you really need to order BM dresses 10-11 months in advance?

I understand both sides....but you're the bride...you're right! lol I think you were nice enough and expained a fair argument. She'll get over it. ...and maybe it will be insentive for her to loose weight knowing she ordered a smaller size.

I am actually very glad I am doing this early. I already had drama with one of my bm saying she couldn't afford the dress so she dropped out. If I would have waited till the summer I would have been really screwed. I was one gm short and was planning on asking my cousin from Italy to be in the wedding party. I will be there this July. Luckily I did this early so I won't have to replace anyone.

Re: Advice please

I learned a lot today i was told wedding gowns a good rule is 9 months prior (every store told me this) and bridesmaids 6 months before. I am doing bridesmaids July/August but we are having hte final style and colors finalized real soon but holding off till then because one girl is on a diet. The lady said order a bit bigger then smaller always because its not a big deal to drop it down up to two dress sizes then go up two.

I agree...it is definitely easier to take the dress in than to take it out. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Advice please

well they say you should order it at the same time because of what you mentioned, they need to be dyed together or else the color might be a little different

Re: Advice please

Honestly, i think ordering bridesmaid dresses now is too early. way to early.

Im getting married june 7th and want to have all my BM's order this december.
It will take 3 months to come in, and they will need one or two fittings

I do not see why you need to order bridesmaid dresses so far advance

ETA: the reason i am doing this is because 2 of the girls had babies this year, and i want them to feel comfortable and give them enough time to loose the weight they want.
