Advice re: Pregnancy...

Ok..so I'm back with yet another question. As you know I started a new job in December and have not informed them of my pregnancy yet. I found out the day I got the job that I was pregnant. I had decided to wait until my 3months probation was over to mention something...which would be in March. However..I have had to go to the doctor last month..and again next month for part 2 of the AFT screening that I am having done. I asked one of my coworkers if I should ask for the day off or ask to work from home, and told her I wouldn't be in until around 12 if I had to come in. She replied with a response that made me feel like this is going to be a problem. My girlfriend recommended me for this position, and also knows I'm pregnant and recommended I wait until I hit my 3 months to say something. I will be 5 months by the time that comes along..and honestly I am tired of feeling like it's a BAD thing to be pregnant. I also told her that it seems this is going to be a problem, because there will be other days that I have appointments that I will not be able to get at night only and I'm not sure what they are going to say.

So...my question is do you think I should:
a) tell them now?
b) wait until march

My main concern is that they would look for a reason to let me go before my probation is up if I tell them I am pregant..even though they have been complimenting me on my work. I just don't want them to look at me funny when I ask to come in late or work from home..again BEFORE hitting my 3 months probation..at least if they know the reason why..maybe they'd be more accepting??? HELP!

I hate to side with your friend, but I would wait until your probation is over.

Try to wait until probation is over. But will you be showing by then? I had to tell my job before I planned on it. Having a few doctors appts is nothing to worry about.

It totally would be..and I seriously doubt a very well known firm like this is going to want that on their hands.

I hate to wait until March..but right now it seems the smart thing to do for myself...but at the same time I feel it's wrong...because I am showing now. Granted I don't see my bosses..because most of them are 'virtual' but still.

Personally, I would wait until your probation is over. Usually an employer is able to let you go for any reason during probabtion and you don't want them to find a reason to let you go. I'm not saying that they would, but it IS something to think about.

I agree with you, though, that there is nothing wrong with you being pregnant, but hey, it's not their business and you're doing a good job. So wait until March and make your happy announcement!

they can't let you go b/c of pregnancy-- I'd tell them now rather than wait--
