I have been lurking for awhile but could really use some advice. I am trying to plan an extremely small wedding (about 40 people) for this August/September. Its just gonna be lunch or dinner - no dancing or anything like that. I really like the idea of having a view of NYC or something on the water.
So far my top two places are Water's Edge in LIC or the Hyatt in Jersey City. Both have beautiful views and very nice rooms. I really loved the Hyatt in Jersey City but my family feels that we won't get that 'inimate' feel. Water's Edge in LIC has very limited dates. I've checked out some restaurants in the area but the private rooms always feel very small.
Anyone have any advice on either of those venues? Or idea for places for an intimate wedding?
Thanks

I've heard great things about Water's Edge... I've also recently seen pics from a small wedding at The River Cafe and it was gorgeous! Check 'em out!

Nope. But I did go by and visit the place when we were RH hunting. I just love the look and vibe of the place.

I second the Foundry in LIC or Bubbys... I really really wanted the Foundry but it wouldn't work the way I wanted for the number of guests I plan to have. It would be perfect for a smaller wedding IMO!

Seriously, we should've just had the joint wedding of our dreams- our visions were so similar! LOL!\
ETA: We could've gotten Tribeca Rooftop for both of us and been done with it!

I'm having a relatively small wedding @ Honu in Huntington. No city or water view but intimate. They have a balcony that seats 40 - 50. If you need any info, just FM me...my friend works there so I can give you her contact info.
Try Ravel roof top in LIC , they have weddings and amazing viewsravel

Been to the Water's Edge for dinner....omg - the view is breathtaking and the food was delish!
Oh - and they offer a free water taxi from Manhattan to the Water's Edge (in case you have anyone coming in from Manhattan)

Re: Advice - Small Wedding
We wanted a venue that was on the water overlooking Manhattan as well. We loved Water's Edge but the space is pretty big and we didn't want to guarantee that many people.
We ended up going with Giando on the Water in Brooklyn. They have an outdoor space literally on the water for the cermony and cocktail hour and they have a gorgeous upstairs room with floor to ceiling windows where it's not too large so that it will feel like an intimiate affair.

The Northport Yacht Club doesn't require you to be a member, and they have a gorgeous view of the Northport harbor. It's a small room, so it would be fine for a small party.

PLEASE check out the Harvest on Hudson. It is so perfect for an intimate wedding and we would have loved to have our affair there. I think the website is www.harvest2000.com

Try Riverview in Long Island City also. The food is great and the ambiance is that real 'city' feel.

Re: Advice - Small Wedding
Thanks -these are great suggestions. I would like to check out Giando but one of my best friends is getting married there. I will definitely take a ride to Riverview...any one ever been there? I actually visted Harvest on Hudson and it was beautiful but just a little out of the way for our guests.
