Advice: where should we block rooms...

Advice: where should we block rooms...

Dilemma, looking for advice:

1) Hotel 1 is really nice- two swimming pools, full service bar and restaurant. Right by a golf course. Doesn't have a van service to the wedding venue although does have pick up from train and islip, and their hospitality suite is already reserved, but they'd block us one of their board rooms. If we want to have hospitality suite, we have to cater through them. is two bucks per room cheaper than Hotel 2.

2) Hotel 2 is clean, decent hotel, albeit nothing exciting. Has a smaller pool. Does have larger rooms for hospitality/group events downstairs. we can bring in our own stuff. has pickup from train and islip airport, and also has a free van to the venue. is 2 bucks more per room than hotel 1.

3) Hotel 3 is about 30 bucks a night cheaper than both cheaper than both, and is decent and clean. But no gym or pool. Does have a hospitality suite available. Van service from Islip and the train, but not to venue. Is about 30 bucks cheaper than 1 and 2.

We've got about 200 on the guest list, a mix of family and friends varying on how much they want to spend on a hotel room. Who do you think we should block with? Thoughts on what we should do?

I would do all three and give everyone a choice... I know all hotels are different ~ if you have no $ obligation then definately block them all ~ you will have nothing to lose!

I agree, people love to have options

Do all three and let the guests decide.

I hear you ladies on blocking all three, but FW just told me that we may be responsible for some percentage of rooms blocked at hotel 1 if we don't fill them (no financial obligation with 2 or 3). Plus, if we don't take care of enough rooms in hotel 2, we lose the discounted hospitality room and possibly the van to the venue.

Props to the class of '07 with their thoughts... anyone who's already gone this mishagos got any thoughts?

In that case I wouldn't block rooms at hotel #1. Just go for #2 and #3, giving your guests 2 options will be good and it won't stick you and FW if the rooms don't get booked.

Personally, I don't go for the hotels with a lot of amenities simply bc when you go to an OOT wedding you really don't have the time to take advantage of them anyway, so no sense in paying for them. JMO tho!!

I'd definitely block choice 2, it's nice to have a hospitality suite and free shuttle service.

You might want to block at choice 3 as well to give guests a cheaper option.

Make sure that when you let them know about their options, you tell them that choice 2 has a pool, hospitality room and shuttle to and from the reception and 3 does not.
