So I got engaged in Feb. People keep telling me I should send out engagement announcements since we are not having an e-party....is it too late?

I don't think it's too late. Do you want to send them out? I didn't send out anything and everyone just either found out when I saw them or word of mouth.

I don't really know what Iwant to do...I also feel as if I'm asking people for engagement gifts by sending them out. That's not what I want either

Re: Advice...w/poll
I would send them out but make it more like a Save the Date type of thing.
Make it like: We're engaged!! Save the Date for our November 2008 wedding!!
So it's just telling guests to mark their calendars and doesn't seem like you're asking for gifts.

That's what we did - and I waited a whole year to do it! Got engaged in Aug 05, and I mailed out STDs in Sept 06. People found out via word of mouth, so the STD was just to make it 'official' and so guests knew the date.

Re: Advice...w/poll
We got engaged on New Year's Eve and never bothered with it. We'll be sending out Save the Dates this month instead. I know a few people will be like 'WHAT?! They're getting married?!' and be a little upset that we didnt announce it. but we've had other things to take care of.
personally i think it's a little late for an announcement but if you do a std it'd be perfect.

I agree with this. We never made an announcement either just sent STD.

It's not too late. But the Save-the-date idea is a good one.

we were going to do this (click link) but we decided to wait and send out STD's instead. This magnet serves both purposes, it's great
we're not haveing an engagement party or sending an announcement. just the STD cards as we get closer.

Yeah, make sure you actually want to send them out. They are not necessary. I'm not having an e-party or sending out announcements or stds.
If you really want, why don't you send out announcements/std (in one) instead of sending them out separatly (and paying more). STD definatly act as an announcement.

I definitely don't think it's too late, esp since your wedding is over a year away, but I agree with previous poster...maybe a STD instead?

My FH and I didn't send out any engagement info...we just sent out the STD's...It was mainly either word of mouth or when we saw them...

Was going to suggest the same thing- do STD's. FH and I aren't having an e-party and we're not expecting gifts for our engagement.

i agree with this too! Its a better alternative to an engagement announcement
