advise/wish cards

advise/wish cards

Not sure if anyone has heard of this or not-but my mother mentioned it to me-(her co-workers daughter used it at her wedding) you leave cards on the tables at the reception and have the guests write advise or well-wishes for you and your FH-and you keep them and add them into an album/scrapbook

Anyone heard of this or are doing something like this?
thanx

It's also called a Wish Bowl. My friend did it at her wedding. She put all her cards in a scrapbook and it made a really nice keepsake.

What is it made from? Just index cards? If I do this, I plan on putting it in a scrapbook also!

Re: advise/wish cards

i did this .. it was my wishbowl .. i just posted about it a week or so ago so i'm copying that

i did the martha stewart wishbowl and it was a hit. i got some great advice and tips and wishes. i love reading them.

I bought a cheap vase and decorated it with a ribbon.

My friend made up a poem for it and I framed that next to the wishbowl.

Then I just bough plain notecards and decorated them with a stamp.

and Voila, it was a hit

BTW, I also did the traditional guestbook on the other side of the table.

here are some ideas of poems for the wishbowl, and the one i actually used:

1)'Share your advice with Tanya and Troy, For a blissful marriage full of Joy'.

2)'Please leave us a note,
please drop us a line,
add advice on marriage,
to stand the test of time.'

3)'Instead of a guestbook stuck in a drawer, Jen and Bill thought they would do more. Please write them a note, a wish, or greeting. On the plane to San Juan, it will make for good reading! Or if you prefer, some advice would be nice, on how to stay married and keep the spice

I sent those to my friend and this is what she came up with (and what I used)

- Congrats to the Newlyweds & Welcome to their wishbowl
- They are officially now two bodies with just one soul
- Now grab a pen, make a wish and help them out
- Let them know what love and marriage is all about
- Give them advice laughs and more....
- maybe theyll listen and see whats in store
- Thoughts, experience and wisdom will do..
- Help make their lives a dream come true
- Now close your eyes, smile and make a wish!
- Write away and drop it in the bowl or dish!

I just formatted and printed it nicely and framed it .. i loved it!
