Can anyone recommend affordable caterers? I'm considering renting a hall and then using my own caterer. I would also need linens and flatware. The hall provides the tables and chairs. Do caterers charge more depending on season, day or time like a RH does? I don't mind having a buffet either. Do they provide the wedding cake, alcohol and bartenders, etc... Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Affordable caterers - for a bride on a budget
My FMIL used Special Affairs for my FBIL and FSILs engagement party. She said they were amazing and everyone raved about the food. She went int hat day and just oversaw that everything was done the way she wanted it done. I can't attest tot hem personally, but thought I'd throw it out there. HTH!

I do some catering jobs for them once in a while.
Great food! Every time I did an event, people raved about the food.

I'm considering the Queens County Farm Museum. You can rent out the barn, which is pretty nice. I have pics in my album. I just want to see how much catering would cost to see if it would be more economical than a catering hall.

What about the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside? It's really pretty inside and extremely reasonable. It may actually be cheaper to do it here then to have to hire a caterer, rent a place, get linens, etc.

I'm going to look at them next Saturday and I'm also going to look at the Knights of Columbus at Seaford. We'll see what happens. I just wanted my wedding to be a little different and I also want the option of having my ceremony outdoors. I know the KofC halls don't really have anywhere to do your ceremony.

Brentwood Country Club Windows on the Lake Beach Club Estate Mediteranean Manor
All offer wedding packages. Usually winter months are more affordable than summer and fall is actually starting to increase in popularity which in turn makes it more expensive. If you are flexible on the date winter is your best option. Just try to stay away from Christmas and Valentine's Day where vendors like florists charge more.

I believe the Stuart Thomas Manor has a wedding package for 10K- all inclusive for 100 guests (hall, photo/flowers, etc)....they're a vendor on here.
My MOH hired a caterer when she got married and used Laurel Lake Vineyard out East. She had about 70 guests and it was perfect.

Re: Affordable caterers - for a bride on a budget
I am getting married in a loft and bringing in a caterer who will provide chairs, linens, silverware, china, bartenders and waitstaff. I'm using http://www.nycaterer.com/ offices in Merrick and City. They have been wonderful with us and working with our budget. We had our tasting last week and the food was great. If you are interested in more info. FM me. Good Luck

I forgot to mention, you provide your own alcohol and able to return unopened bottles.

FM me and I can give you the phone number of a caterer.... it's my FBIL's girlfriend. She catered FH's friends wedding, and it was beautiful!
