My room at the Floral Terrace is overwhelmingly large, and I don't want the centerpieces to look lost and small on the table. However, we cannot afford those huge pedastal things they usually do there. Any suggestions? I have traversed the web all night and am tired of looking. Thanks

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
One florist quoted smallish green dishes with fresh greenier and flowers for 35-40 each--- this sounds good to me.
My FH does not want high centerpieces so I'm thinkgin of these or rose petals on the tables and small bowls with floating flowers and or candles...
I want floating candles, but I'm worried about the time they will stay lite

Thanks, I will keep that in mind, when I go see the florist tomorrow. We were thinking of the hollowed out pumpkins with flowers in them. (October wedding)

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
I'm actually making my own centerpieces - I'm using a round of mirror glass and putting votives around it and then since I have a beach theme I'm putting a sandcastle in the center with a few small floating flowers in votive glasses...putting the centerpiece on a mirror base makes it look MUCH bigger....

Rambling Rose in Sayville was whom I used. They charged me $40 for mine and they were nice size.

Sometimes you can use the silk centerpieces the hall has for show - they will either give them to you or you can rent them!

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
Hey I'm getting married in the same month! Congrats! Just wondering if you've made any progress on your search? -- if so do you mind sharing with me your vendor / design? I'm in the same spot -- do you think it'll look funny with low (but full) centerpiece? I know that floral terrace mentioned that they could rent the centerpieces for -- I think $35. How about a high centerpiece that's not full (simple -- small number of flowers) -- will that look funny?
Thanks!

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
The pumpkin thing sounds so nice, maybe you could also get a fall foliage garland to place around it to make it wider. If you are giving out gifts at the end maybe you can create an additional centerpiece out of them at each table. A friend of mine used votive candles and rose petals and that looked really nice, but I think that will get lost in the room at the Floral Terrace.

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
Do they have an in-house florist? I was able to get the best deal on centrpieces from my hall's floral designer.

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
ditto on silk centerpieces if the hall provides them... so worth it. Our guests had no clue the flowers were fake and few asked to take them home

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
do you think pumpkins as vases would work for a November 6 wedding?

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
I definitely love the pumpkin idea. We originally wanted our wedding in October. It's really inexpensive and if you put Mums inside it will be beautiful. The great thing is that Mums come in all different colors and you can leave them in the pot and just stick them in the hollowed out pumpkin. Also Mums are usually 3/$12 at that time year. I would say $10 per centerpiece and that's the high-end price!
Good Luck!

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
I like the pumkin idea, yo could also incorporate some candles around it. Another idea would be tall thin vases with something branch like, maybe those small orchids or if you want fall theme just use various colors of large mums and fall branches with different types of leaves.

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
I think the pumpkins work October through November.
I'm set for Oct next year. I was thinking of using small wicker arrangments with those mini pumpkins & gerbera orange daisies along with other fall colors red maple leaves and such.. maybe some of that twine stuff? Rafita (sp?)

Re: Affordable centerpieces?
NYCMegan: I am thinking of doing almost the same centerpiece as you!!! In place of the sand castle, I want large glass bowls with glass beads at the bottem and floating gardinias in it. They're my favorite flower and the whole room will smell of them. I was thinking that on the edge of the mirror I could hot glue ribbon thats the same color of the bridesmaid dresses to tie the colors together. I havent' priced all this out, but I am thinking (and hoping) that it will be cheaper than a regular floral arrangement from the florist. The mirror definitely will make it look larger, and it'll reflect the light from the votives.
