affordable gown shopping

affordable gown shopping

Does anyone have suggestions about where to buy affordable (like under $1500) wedding gowns? Preferrably in Nassau County and an 'in store' experience - as opposed to buying online. Also (and I know I'm asking for a lot) it would be great if there were a peaceful environment. I went to David's Bridal and while they had some great stuff, it was pretty overwhelming.

Any suggestions would be soooo helpful!

Thanks in advance.

You should try Fantasia in Shoreham, or Paradise Bridals in Patchouge. The Commack Wedding center too.

You could also try online. I think www.netbride.com is a good one.

I went to Lillette's in Baldwin on Merrick Road. Had a great experience (hired the girl who helped me to dress me on my day). I bought a BEAUTIFUL Maggie Sottero for under $1,000.

I would try Burton's. NO ONE can beat their prices and since they have a small place, they only help one bride at a time. VERY peaceful enviornment.

I second Lillette's! They are so nice there, too! My beautiful Mori Lee is only $800!

I was very pleased with Flowerama on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont. They're super nice and the dresses were very reasonable. RK bridal is great too, but that's in the city.

I actually found my dress at Lilette's but their price was more than other stores. they were nice, but not the best prices. There's also the Wedding Plaza on Grand Avenue in Baldwin. Very good deals, but I'm not sure about the customer service aspect.

I found my dress at Lillette's (Maggie Sottero) and was already to buy but then checked out Burton's (you can't try on many dresses there, they just order it for you) and saved 40% off. As of Jan 1st they changed their policy. Do a search of kdrainey's thread about this from about a week ago.

I got mine at Estelle's. Great prices and the woman who helped me was also very nice. The only thing is you have to get a seamstress and store your dress. They give you names though.

Check out Bonaventure Bridal in Garden City (they will negotiate with you) ,
Bridal Reflections in Massapequa (Carle Place store is more pricey) and Moonlight Couture in Merrick. Also alot of brides go to full service salons to try on dresses, but but their dresses online for a huge discount (you might want to do that if you can find an independent seamstress).

I got mine at Bridal Paradise in Patchogue...but I wouldn't recommend if you were looking for a peaceful experience.

Fantasia is in Rocky Point, but same situation. Most bridal shops are crazy!!!

I think the trick is to find a line that is inexpensive where you like the style of the dresses and then find shops that carry them. My gown was a Casablanca - I paid around $800 for it, plus tax and alterations - I really like the dresses and their well made and affordable (and, according to one bridal shop I was in, they're very, very reliable - I planned my wedding in only 5 months and the dress was in in plenty of time) you can check them out here www.casablancabridal.com

There is a little tiny shop in Shoreham that carries Casablanca dresses (I think she does Maggie also). I don't remember the name, but they're in a little strip mall.

Good luck!

Re: affordable gown shopping

My alfred angelo dress was $450 before alterations- they are the one manufacturer I saw that listed their prices both on the website and in the bridal magazines, so you know exactly what they cost before you got to the shop.

www.alfredangelo.com

You can search for store locations on the website, too.
