Definitely try the make-up counters at Macy's and department stores (Victoria Secret). Let the counter make-up artists know what you're looking for in particular and mention it's for your wedding day. Purchase the make-up after you find someone that you trust, ex a friend or family member that can do make-up really well. Trust me, it'll save you a lot of time and money not to mention tears (if anything goes wrong!). I hired a make-up artist/hair-stylist for my wedding and spent close to 1500 (4' add'l hrs for touch-up plus cost of make-up/hair for myself and 3 other BM's plus touch-up for FH & GM). Not only were we not thrilled with the make-up/hair, my BM had to re-do their make-up in the bathroom and hair. Save that money and spend it on something could really use it! For the hair, go to your local hairstylist at a salon and see if she can do your hair on your wedding day. Purchase the make-up you need and have someone do it for you.

I have a VERY affordable girl (talking like $30) for ya who does reg makeup, but you'd have to travel to ronkonoma for a trial... but she does travel to you on the day of... if you want her number just FM me

I just went on Saturday and had my makeup trial with Nicole Tenga. She was absolutely fantastic. My makeup came out great and she was very affordable.
