I have a question. I am a married gal (happily so!) but my cousin is getting married in Long Island at the Inn at New Hyde Park on February 13, 2009. Her issue is she is planning the wedding from GA because our fmaily is all from here and so is her fiance's, but she lives in GA and her husband is a military man, currently in Iraq (prayers for him.)
She doesnt know NY well and she isnt a girly girl so she is overwhelmed with the wedding and I am trying to help.
She needs a photographer thats pretty budget. They spent more on the hall so the other budgets had to lighten.
She wants to spend between $1,500 and $2,200 dollars. $2,200 is her absolute max. She wouldnt need an album, just a DVD or CD of the photos and she would be willing to have less hours and of course 1 photographer only. She doesnt need a video.
Does anyone have any ideas of LI photographers in this price range? I am thinking staying away from NYC photographers only because if they travel they'd probaby charge her more for travel fees.
she can def do that...she is getting married in the least expensive month so that is a plus. before taxes i am paying $3999 for 2 photogs and a videog with the album all proofs, cds, dvds and al the extra crap. for 1 person...she def get a good deal!

I looked into Aaron Almendral and Mariano Delgado earlier in my search and both were very inexpensive (if I remember correctly, less than $1500 for CD and prints) and had great portfolios. Both were happy to travel farther than New Hyde Park...they are worth googling.

HIGHLY recommend Twelfth Night! I believe they are located in New Hyde Park and she will come in under budget using the A la Carte menu.

If she can't find a 'reputable' photographer , maybe she should try craigslist or try doing a search for someone who is looking to build their portfolio. I was going to do that in the beginning, and met with some really cool people, but in the end I wound up falling totally in love with Marco. He is reasonable and I am sure if she isn't doing an album then she may want to check him out. Marcophotoinc.com. But I would check out people who are freelancing also.
