I stopped BF my son at least 2 weeks ago. My chest started getting sore a few days ago, and now, they really hurt! It hurts just like when I was first PG! Why would they hurt now, and not right after I was done BF? Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: After breastfeeding...
maybe your period is coming back, if you didn't already get it back?

No... I got that back right away after giving birth.
My chest doesn't hurt when I get my period.

Re: After breastfeeding...
Just because you are done bfing doesn't mean your body is. You may have some engorgement. I highly suggest you pump for 2-3 minutes today. Just to get the milk out to prevent the pressure. It took my body a good 2-3 weeks to stop making milk. Also an ice pack will help.

I didn't say engorged...I said that your body is still making milk so that could be causing the feelings. Just pump for a few minutes and see if it helps.

Or pregnancy can cause pain your breasts also.

Re: After breastfeeding...
I really wouldn't pump too much, the supply and demand factor can cause infection, clogged ducts etc. It can take up to 6 months for all of your milk ducts to fully empty and close. Try warm compresses, tylenol, warm showers. Express manually ONLY since this only allows very minimal amounts to be expressed but will provide relief. If you don't feel better by week 6, call your doctor, maybe you have mastitis, or a clogged duct. Are you running a fever?
