After inspection...

What comes next? Do we goto contract or apply for the mortgage (or both at the same time?)

My engineer won't be able to come in until Friday, so I am trying to see what else I can get working on meanwhile.

TIA!

Did you get preapproved yet?

While you are waiting for the inspection, you can do some mortgage research, look into the different programs that banks have... after you sign the contract you have to get the mortgage 30 or 45 or 60 days from the contract date (Depending on what you say in your contract), so it would be good to have the legwork done already.

I would find a lawyer (if you have not already) you will need him/her for the contracts. Which will come next. After the contracts are signed you will go for a mortgage. I would start speaking to a mortgage broker now. You need to get a lot of paperwork together for them. You can start getting that together.

We were already preapproved and prequalified..

we have a lawyer, I guess maybe I can get him on the horn to let him know that we are close..

and we already have a mortgage company.

Do I need different paperwork for the mortgage than we did for the preapproval/prequalification? If so, what? (For the previous preapp/prequal we gave them basically 3 months of paystubs, bank statements, and tax returns?)

I guess we just have to sit around and wait. It's gonna be a long week.

Well if you have all you say you have I believe your atty will order a title and a survey if needed and the motgage company should get an appaiser out to the house.
